A Walk In The Park

So we decided that today would be a great day to take the kids to the park.  Of course the one day that we get to sleep in, Riley was up with the chickens.  So, we ate breakfast and were at the park by 10:00.  However, it was hot.  Have I mentioned yet how hot it is here?!?  Maybe a couple of times, huh?  After the cabbie drove us around the block to make an extra 10 nt, we got out and headed off with our baggie full of toys.  We had a bat, 4 baseballs, and two kickballs.  Ricky and Riley jetted off ahead to find the grassy area and Lily and I hung out and were looking at all the beautiful surroundings.  It really is a beautiful park and it was such a nice feeling to be out of the city for awhile.  You could definitely get “lost” in there.  Not for long though when your husband is yelling to hurry up!!  Here are a few of my favorite scenic pictures from today.

It was amazing to see all of the men fishing around the park.  They just sat so quiet and still.  Our favorite was this man sitting with two poles.  What else could you do with your foot while your fishing?  Well, hold another fishing pole of course!

The kids both enjoyed playing ball with Daddy which is “just” what he wanted to do on his day off.  Especially in the heat and humidity. We were just so thankful that it was not raining so we could get outside today!

They got to enjoy an ice cream cone too!  There was a lady on a bike that came around and sold ice cream cones.  I didn’t get a pic of her, but I will next time.  The ice cream melted really quickly but they enjoyed what didn’t end up on the ground or their shirts =)

This was my favorite picture of the day.  It was so precious.  It was just as peaceful as it looks.

This was Lily’s favorite picture.   She found it on her nature walk with Daddy.  Look closely to see the yellow and black dragonfly.

We ended the day with a couple hours at the pool.  The kids are exhausted and so are we.  It was a busy day off, but one that we really enjoyed.
