I NEED 3 TOWELS PLEASE

Let me set the stage for my most frustrating situation this week.  We have two kids dressed in swimsuits, me with a bag full of swim gear, and a receptionist that does not speak any English.  Her name is Cutie.  I hand her my gym passes and she gives me two gym keys on wrist bands and  two hand towels and two pool towels.  Now let me tell you that they made me buy a gym pass for Lily since we went the day after she turned 5.  Kids 4 and under do not have to pay.  Notice that we have 3 people going to the pool to swim, but only two pool towels.   Go:

Me:  I have 3 people, can I please have one more pool towel.  I don’t need these little ones. (I do this in words and hand motions.)

Cutie:  No, no, no.  She points to the two passes and pushes the pool towels towards me but takes back the hand towels.

Me:  But I need 3 pool towels.  I count each of us, “1, 2, 3, People” .  We are all swimming.  We all need towels.  Each of these words is accompanied by a motion. And yes, I even was swimming in the air.

Cutie:  No, no, no.  “Insert Chinese sentences here”

Kids:  Can we go swimming now?  Come on Mom!  Swimming!  Swimming!  Swimming!  (Cue Riley peeing in swim diaper, which by the way, does not hold liquid)

Me:  I NEED 3 TOWELS PLEASE!  1, 2, 3 people need 3 towels.  Can I have one now to clean up the pee from my son since this is taking so long.   (At this point I can say anything.  I know she has no idea what I am saying and she knows the same about me)

Cutie(who is not so cute anymore):  “Insert very emphatic Chinese sentence here”  which I’m guessing was not very nice.

Lily:  Mom, Riley peed all over the floor!  Can we just get in the pool now?  Hurry up Mom!

Riley:  Sorry mommy. I no do that again.  Swimming!  Swimming!  Swimming!

Me:  Pee away Riley!  I don’t have towels to clean it up anyway!

Me:  Okay, Cutie!  I will take my two towels and you can take the third and clean up this puddle.  See, this one right here on the floor. (point to puddle)  The kids and I head to the pool with our two towels.

Update….

The kids and I went to the pool on Saturday with Daddy.  Guess who was manning the front desk?  That’s right, Cutie!  However, she had another woman with her and she was the one who took our passes.  Then, (drumroll please)  she handed me 4 towels.  That’s right folks, one for each person.  I thought Cutie was going to blow a gasket.  I looked at the lady and said thank you in Chinese and Cutie was arguing with the other woman.  The woman then pointed to all four of us and then the four towels.  I triumphantly walked to the pool with four towels in hand, one for each person!

Thanks for the laugh! Why do they call them swim diapers anyway? They really don’t hold a thing.
