Dragonboat Festival

The kids were so excited that the dragonboat festival was yesterday.  They learned about it and celebrated it all last week at school.  I don’t know a whole lot about it except they race boats that look like dragons all day at the river.  However, one of the traditional foods for the festival are rice dumplings.  These are dumplings that are rolled in some type of leaf and tied with string.  They are made with rice, various types of meat and veggies.  Meggy mommy was sweet enough to bring us some that were handmade by her grandmother.

The kids were so excited to try them.  They were like unwrapping a little present.

Riley is getting his fork ready!  He wants to dig in.

So Lily, tell us what you think.  Don’t hold back.

Really….

Riley on the other, thoroughly enjoyed them.  They were filled with “meat”(not sure what kind, fruit, and mushrooms.

Here is a video of Lily saying her dragonboat chant.  She learned this at school and has worn it out this week.
