We Are Home!

I cannot believe that we are home already!  Ricky’s recovery so far has been amazing and they found no need for him to remain in the hospital.  Dr. McPherson’s nurse came in this morning and was very pleased with his progress.  She once again said that the speech problems are normal and not to worry.  I will call around tomorrow to find a speech therapist in our area  and he will go two times a week.

He has made a lot of improvements in his speech.  He was able to hold a few small conversations tonight.  It really wears him down and makes him tired.  You can tell he has to work hard to speak, but I am so proud of him for doing so!

The kids were so excited to see him.  My brother in law, Mike, buzzed his head last night and Kalynn painted a scar on him to match Ricky’s.  So today when they saw Daddy they knew what to expect.  They weren’t scared at all and soon acted like there was nothing there.

As far as the MRI results go, Dr. McPherson said that he got out what he anticipated he would be able to.  He did not give us a percentage and will go into more detail at our appointment next Wednesday the 3rd.  He said to spend this week resting and working on speech and we’ll find out the next plan of action next Wednesday.

His spirits were high coming home.  He is so thrilled to be here and you could just see his mood lighten.  The laughter of the children and the warmth of our home just brightened him up.  I feel so blessed to be home!  What a journey the past two and a half weeks have been.

He is still unable to talk on the phone or do any texting, but please know that I have him listen to all messages, texts, and emails.  He has appreciated every single one of them.

Love,

Tracey

I just balled when I read these entries. We do take so many things for granted in life and sometimes forget to thank God for what we have. I have two beautiful, healthy girls and a wonderful husband and I THANK GOD for that. I also thank him for friends like you guys! Keep up the good work……Psalms 37, 3-11. You both are such a blessing!
