Our Week In Pictures

This week was crazy, but filled with lots of family fun.   We carved our pumpkins on Wednesday night and the kids got to paint one each.  They loved scooping out the  pumpkin “guts”!

They told Daddy and I what they wanted the faces to look like, and we carved them.

Then we let them each paint their pumpkins.  They were totally into it!

On Thursday night we went to a Family Night at Lily’s school.  It was so much fun.  Each family brought a small pumpkin and we did various math and science related activities.  There was even popcorn and apple cider when we were finished.   The kids were so excited to see Hannah and Emma there.  We ended up hanging out with them and then letting the kids play when we were finished.  Here are all four at one of the first stations.  They were estimating how many pieces of candy corn were in the jar.

Here they are investigating the insides of a pumpkin.  They had to describe what they thought the inside would feel like and then what it actually felt like.  Lily said she thought it would feel slimy, but it actually felt cold.  Riley said he thought it would feel toot, and it actually did feel toot. He likes to insert the word “toot” when he doesn’t know what to say.   I couldn’t make that up if I tried =)

Here are the girls enjoying their popcorn and cider.

Then on Friday night we had trick or treat.  The night started off with a bang.  Here is pirate Riley deciding he didn’t want to be a pirate. He said everyone would laugh at him. This coming from the kid who coudn’t wait to be a pirate.   Whatever!  It wasn’t worth the fight.

So here is pirate Riley after he decided to be baseball player Riley.  At least we had a back up that he could wear.  He was much happier after he changed.

Here is Lily rockin’ out her Hannah Montana outfit.

I don’t think Riley quite understood what trick or treating was going to be all about.  He refused to do our street with Lily, but was quite upset when she came back with a bunch of candy.  That’s when he decided to give it a shot.  Then after every house he wanted to make sure that we were going to another one.

Here is Daddy with Lily and Riley.

After about an hour, they were done and ready to go eat some of their loot.

Our next door neighbors were nice enough to pass out our candy so we could walk around as a family.  Afterwards, we went over and hung out around the fire pit.  We had such a good time.  Here is Riley with his first piece of candy.  He crammed a huge tootsie roll down his pie hole =)

Lily was starving as usual, and asked for a hot dog.  Riley had to have one too!  They haven’t had a “real” hot do since we switched our food over, so this was a treat for them.  Riley threw his arms up in the air and shouted “Woo Hoo” after one bite.  Come on now!  Soy dogs aren’t that bad, are they?!?

It was such a great week filled with lots of memories.  Thanks for taking the time to share them with us!

I LOVE the morningstar veggie hot dogs – of course I’ve been a vegetarian for more years than I want to admit! It looks like you all had an awesome week.
