Thanksgiving Outreach!

I want to say a huge thank you to all of you who donated to the Thanksgiving outreach.  I also need to thank the manager at Kroger’s who gave me 27 turkeys for the sale price of .59 cents a pound.  The limit is 2, but he let us have all of them for that price.  Yay Kroger’s!!!  Thanks to Melissa for going with me to get the turkeys.  We were worried that we would be pushing a carts with the turkeys but the nice guys had Kroger’s helped us load them all.

Here is a pic of the back of the car loaded down with all the turkeys.  There were 3 turkeys in each box and they were heavy.

The baskets were ones that we put together at home.  Our friends the Figgins are in Florida, so the kids put together a basket for them as well.  Here they are proud as can be after we got them all set up.  This was after Riley tried to use the rolls as a baseball bat.  No worries!  They were confiscated before any damage was done.

Here is our church lobby being filled with all of the donations.

I am thrilled to let you know that Ruth, who runs the outreach, emailed me this morning to let me know the final numbers.  They exceeded the original plan of 175 and ended up with 225 baskets!!!!  How awesome is that?!?  Seriously, God is so good and He just continues to leave me in awe.  Just think, my original goal was 10 turkeys and He provided enough for 28!  There were so many extras that as they delivered the baskets to the families, they were able to go back and give to neighbors that looked as though they could really use a basket too!  Can you imagine how surprised those neighbors were to have someone come and hand over a full Thanksgiving meal?  I am so proud of all of you who helped give back this Thanksgiving!  It brings tears to my eyes to think of all the families that received those baskets yesterday!

Have  a great day!

What a great Blog! You are an inspiration to alot of people because you ALWAYS give ALL the credit to God! Many people say they are giving God the glory, but they spend half the time intertwining what all they did to help. It is refreshing to hear someone who TRULY has a heart for what God is and has done! Your blog is truly refreshing and a blessing for all who read it! I hope all is going well with your family – have a very blessed holiday!!
